A local youth dance group has been selected to perform at a national youth dance showcase in Stirling next month.

SkyeDance Youth Company is one of 13 youth dance groups from across the country selected to perform alongside the National Youth Dance Company of Scotland at a spectacular celebration of young dance talent.

YDance Destinations is a vibrant annual showcase of the best youth dance companies from across Scotland. The event, this year to be held at Macrobert Arts Centre, Stirling on Saturday 2 March, brings together national youth dance talent in an exciting evening of diverse performances.

The 13 groups taking part were selected by YDance (Scottish Youth Dance) – the award-winning national dance organisation for children and young people in Scotland – through an application process after the company was inundated with submissions from talented groups.

Meara O’Donnell-Webb, Dance Development Manager at SkyeDance said: “Being selected for YDance Destinations offers a great opportunity for our dancers to gain insight into the world of dance and observe how young people their age are dancing, as living on an island can be quite isolating. The event ignites inspiration and motivation in these young people.”

YDance has also partnered with industry body One Dance UK to offer two groups from Scotland the chance to perform at U.Dance 2019 in London on 20 – 21 July, 2019. Selection of the two Scottish groups will be made at the Destinations performance.

Audiences can expect an entertaining programme which will also include the premiere of the National Youth Dance Company of Scotland’s new piece for 2019, For Those Who Wait, choreographed by Anna Kenrick, YDance Artistic Director.

YDance Destinations will take place at Macrobert Arts Centre in Stirling on Saturday 2 March at 7.30pm. Tickets are on sale now and can be booked online at or by calling the Box Office on 01786 466666. Tickets are priced at £7.50 (£5.50 concessions).
